Muddiest Point 9/23/2008

When we discussed Basic Audio Coding during the lecture, I was wondering about speech. We were told that the standard telephone channel has 8-bit samples; is that the same regardless of whether it is a land line or a cell phone? If there is a difference, what causes it?

here the 8bits refers to the digital recording of human voices. it is not say that landline or mobile line use that.
